Knitted in sturdy, absorbent worsted weight cotton, this project is designed for the knitter ready to move beyond basic rectangular shapes. The body of the heart is worked in squishy garter stitch—perfect for scrubbing—but the construction offers enough engagement to keep it interesting. You will build the heart from the bottom tip upward, utilizing simple increases to widen the fabric before dividing the work to shape the two rounded lobes separately using specific decreases.

What truly sets this heart dishcloth knitting pattern apart and elevates it to an intermediate level is the set in eyelets along the edge of the heart shape.  Make it more attractive with a touch of lace.

This project is quick enough for last-minute gifting—think Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or a thoughtful housewarming present—but features enough technique to feel like a satisfying accomplishment. Grab your favorite color of cotton yarn and cast on a little love today!

This is an intermediate level knitting.  I wrote this pattern with a thorough description and created a chart for those who prefer visual instruction. K2tog (knit 2 sts together) - knit the next two sts together at once.
