pattern help, knitted rabbit!

by ruby
(melboURNe)

This pattern for a toy rabbit ends previous row (back body) with 18 stitches, and instructs not to cut wool/leave on holder. This is the next instruction.
Head
Continuing from neck edge of back body, commence working in rounds.
Round 1: Using 3.25mm double-pointed needles, k18 (placing 9 sts on each of two needles), then knit 12 sts from holder on the neck end of belly, placing these sts on third needle, and use the fourth needle to knit with; do not turn.

My question is: how am I making up the stitch numbers when I am required to knit 9 onto 2 dpns/ and then another 12 from the holder?

These instructions are from the errata already issued from publisher

Sorry for the late reply. Have not check my mail since 25th. I was in hospital having surgery.

You divide those 18 sts that you knitted earlier on to 2 dpns. So you end up with 9 sts each. Then pick up 12 sts from the holder with another dpn. From now you should be able to knit them in round.
That how I understand it.

Thanks for visiting and questioning.
