CASTING ON ADDITIONAL STITCHES TO MAKE SLEEVES

Question:How do I cast on more stitches at the beginning of the next two row to make the sleeves?

Answer

Hi,

I usually cast on extra number of stitches I need at the end of the row instead of at the beginning. By doing it this way, I don't have to cut off my yarn.

Here is how;

At the end of the row and with the same yarn, cast on desired number of stitches using single cast on method. (you can see my single cast on method here. Just skip the slip-knot part because you don't really need it here.

After completing your cast on, turn your piece and begin working on the cast on sts and continue to the end of the row. Then repeat the same single cast on method as for the other end.

Does this make any sense to you? If you're still need help, please let me know. Have fun and thanks for the question.

Have a great day!

Ratcha

casting on extra stitches for sleeves

I just thought of a question that I didn't ask you before. Are you working in round with circular needle or working in row with straight needle. I saw you wrote "end of rows" so I assumed that you were working with straight needle.

If you were working in rounds with circular needle, then casting on at the beginning of the round making more sense to me. Just do the usual cast on with the number of stitches you want. Once that done you can pick up stitches and work using the same yarn from cast on.

I'm planning to add a video on this topic when I have more time.

Thanks,
Ratcha.
