What is the AKA for this technique

In motif 3: What am I doing with the 3 stitches? “work 3 sts in garter st”

In motif 4: work as for motif 2 “to last 3 sts”…. What am I doing with the last 3 stitches?

Hi,

In motif 3, "work 3 sts in garter st" mean to knit these 3 sts. Every time you see the work "garter st" you alwasy knit on both sides. And if you see the word "stockinette st" then you k the right side and p the wrong side.

In motif 4, work to last 3 sts, work garter st to end. This is the same thing. You work to the last 3 sts and then knit these last 3 sts to form garter stitch pattern.
