Stumped - Neck and Armhole Decreases

Neck edge and armhole decreases

Neck edge and armhole decreases

I'm knitting a vest - working on left front panel.

Instructions state: "Repeat dec at neck edge every other row 1 (0,1,1,0,0) time more, then every 4th row row 10 times more. AT THE SAME TIME, repeat dec at armhole edge every other row 7 times more."

I don't understand.

Thanks, Jayne

Vest Pattern Instruction-Neck and armhole decreases

What is you size?

You will work decreases on both ends, the neck and the arm hole. Keep track of the neck side and the arm hole side by using rows counters or paper and pencil. Count each row as you knit.

"Repeat dec at neck edge every other row 1 (0,1,1,0,0) time more, then every 4th row row 10 times more. AT THE SAME TIME, repeat dec at armhole edge every other row 7 times more."

Your pattern decreases are all on the right side;
Do the following;
Next row (wrong side) : just work no decrease.
I'm counting the next row as row 1: decrease 1 sts or 0 sts depending on your chosen size on the neck side, and dec 1 st on the armhole side. ( 1st armhole decrease)
Row 2 and all wrong side rows : work even
Row 3: dec armhole side only (2nd armhole decrease)
Row 5: dec both sides (1 time more neck dec, 3rd armhole dec)
Row 7: dec armhole side only (4th armhole dec)
Row 9: dec both sides (2 times more neck dec, 5th armhole dec)
Row 11: dec armhole side only (6th armhole dec)
Row 13: dec both sides (3 times more neck dec, 7th arm hole dec)

Now you just finish armhole edge dec. You can continue decrease the neck edge side. Do decrease on row 17, 21, 25, 29, 33, 37, and 41 and you should be done with all your decrease.

I hope this helps.
