seed stitch in the middle of a row

I am knitting an afghan that calls for some seed stitch knitting in the middle of a row. How do I know if I start with a knit stitch or a purl stitch?

Hello Dianne,

For me, It doesn't really matter which stitch you start out with since there is no right or wrong side for the seed stitch.

You can start out with a knit or a purl stitch and it will work out just fine.

Make sure you mark the beginning and the end of the seed stitch pattern with markers. It will be very helpful knowing where to start and stop.

Have fun making the afghan and thank you for visiting!
