Question YF at beginning of row

I know how to YF but my pattern says YF K1 p3, my query is starting the row with YF, I am unsure how to YF at the beginning of the row

YF at the beginning of a row

Thank you for sharing your question with us.
To do yf at the beginning of the row is not different than yf in the middle of the row. It just looks strange at first but once you knit a few row then you'll appreciate how cute it looks.

All you need to do is to place a yarn in front of a working needle and knit over it as the way you do yo. I have found a video below that shows you how to do yf in front of the row in this shawl making.
