knitting v neck using cirular needle

For the neckband my pattern says the following.

Work 1 x 1 Rib to 2 sts before
marker, ssk, slip marker (sm), k1, sm, k2tog,
work 1 x 1 Rib to end.

When I again knit after the marker the marker is entangled with the stitch. Please help.

Hi,

Maybe this might help. If the marker is making it to hard to knit then maybe you could try safety pin to pin it a row below.
