It depends on how big your afghan is. I would get the longest cable needle I can find. I would go for atlas 30-40in long needle.

I would recommend buying interchangeable needle set because it comes very handy in a long run. Joanne often have coupon for item that's not on sale. I remember got one with a half price off.
