If the pattern says yo k 5, do I do the yo before each knit stitch or only the first one?

If the pattern says yo k5, do I do the yo before the first knit or before all 5 knits.

You do yo before you knit the next 5 sts. It will look like this; yo, k1, k1, k1, k1, k1
