How do I interpret the instructions

by Julia
(NC)

I’m attempting to knit a sweater. Started out casting on 83 stitches and completed ribbing. Stuck understanding the next instructions: Next row (RS): K2, K2tog, K to last 4 sts, K2tog tbl, K2. Working all decreases 2 sts in from ends of rows as set by last row, cont in st st, shaping side seams by dec 1 st at each end of every foll 10th row to 73 (77: 83: 87: 93) sts.

Hi Julia,

Thank for visiting and questioning. I'll try to explain your question and hope it will work out for you.

"Next row (RS): K2, K2tog, K to last 4 sts, K2tog tbl, K2."
This is a set up row for the decrease rows in the future. Repeat this row every time you do each dec row. Work the rest of the rows in st st pattern.

So, you work will look like this;

Work set up row *Next row (RS): K2, K2tog, K to last 4 sts, K2tog tbl, K2.*
work even 9 rows
Repeat the set up row above for dec row and follow by working even 9 rows until you reach desire number of stitches for your size.

Happy knitting!,

Ratcha
