You take 2 stitches from each side of the marker, is this the marker I have at the armpit of the sleeve or do i put a NEW marker at top of the mid point of sleeve? and then take 4 of the existing stiches left and right of the marker.
Row 1 now 2 stitches marker then 2 stiches in pattern 2
row 2 same as above in pattern 2
row 3 add 4 existing stitches from the existing stitches the original 2 marker original 2 add 4 more stitches
row 4 knit in (pattern 2) 4 + 2 marker +2 +4
row 5 add 4 existing stiches, 4, 2 marker, add 4, 4, 2
row 6 all stitches back on the circular needle starting with
pattern 1 row 1 knit
row 7 row 2 knit
row 8 row 3 purl
row 9 row 4 purl
row 10 row 5 knit
row 11 row 6 knit bind off

Thank you
Let me know if this is correct

Hi Wendy!

I’ve looked this over, and here is how to interpret those instructions:

1. The Marker Location Do not use the armpit marker. You need to place a NEW marker at the very top center of the sleeve (the midpoint of the shoulder). You are building a 'cap' or 'saddle' that sits on top of the shoulder, so you must start at the top.

2. The Logic (Rows 1-5) You are doing something called Short Rows. You are starting with a tiny island of 4 stitches at the top of the shoulder and slowly widening it to eat up the stitches on the left and right.

Row 1: correct (2 sts each side of marker).

Row 3 & 5: correct. You are widening the active area by grabbing 4 more stitches from the 'waiting' stitches each time.

3. Rows 6-11 Yes, this is correct! Once you finish the shaping, you join everything back in the round. The sequence of Knits and Purls you listed will create a nice decorative ridge (Garter Stitch) before you bind off.

You've got this!
