Confusing pattern instructions - increase on the 10th row

I am knitting a cabled sweater. The pattern is a 6-row repeat. The instructions for beginning increases read:

"Taking inc sts into St st, work as follows:

Inc row row 1 of pattern repeat k2, m1, Patt to last 2 sts, m1, k2
Work 9 rows. That puts me at row 4 in 6-row repeat

Repeat the last 10 rows 3 times more and the inc row again"

Do I increase on the 10th row regardless of where it falls in the 6-row repeat? In other words, do I need to keep track of both the 6-row repeat AND the 10-row increase?

Thanks for your help.

increase on the 10th row

Hi Kathryn,

It sounds like you're working on a beautiful project!

The "Repeat the last 10 rows 3 times more" instruction refers to the entire 10-row sequence, including the increase row. So, you'll repeat the 10-row sequence a total of 3 times, and then work the increase row again after completing those repeats.

To clarify:

1. Work the increase row (row 1 of the pattern repeat).
2. Work 9 more rows in the pattern (rows 2-10 of the pattern repeat, which brings you to row 4 in the 6-row repeat).
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 three more times (for a total of 4 sets of 10 rows).
4. Work the increase row again.

You don't need to worry about where the increase row falls within the 6-row cable repeat. Just follow the 10-row sequence as instructed, and you'll be on track.

Have fun!
Ratcha
