Adding armhole stitches

I’m working on a top - down sweater. Called for adding 6 cast on stitches at arm hole but I couldn’t figure out how to do it without messing up the entire project. How do I add them on now that the body is done?

I don't know exactly how your pattern is laid out. I think you may want to take a look at this information below. Maybe this is the answer you're looking for.
