Thumb on a mitten after I shapped the gusset

All sizes: Next row: (RS) k 21. Turn. Cast on 2 sts. Slip remaining sts st holder.

***Thumb:Next row:P10. Turn. Leave rem sts on st holder. Continue in stocking st on these 10 sts until thumb from cast on row measures 1 “ ending on a purl row.

My question, what needle do I put the 2 cast on sts on? And do I put them on a st holder with the rest? I’ve torn out my work multiple times cause it doesn’t look right. Please help.

Thumb on a mitten after shaping the gusset
by: Ratchadawan

Hi Cathy,

Here is the way I understand it.

After K21 and turn, Cast on 2 sts onto left needle using knitted method. Then place sts on right needle on a holder.

Purl 10 sts, slip the rest of sts from left needle to another holder.

Work stockinette st on the 10 sts thumb until 1" ending with a purl row.

I hope this helps.

Ratcha
