What does it mean 12+5 for lace pattern?
by: Ratchadawan

It means in order to make one set of this lace pattern, you need to have 12 sts plus 5 more which is 17 st.

To make certain numbers of lace patterns, you then multiple number of set to 12 and then add 5 at the end.

For example, 125 sts. of your cast on indicates the 10 sets (10x12=120 + 5 = 125 ) of the lace pattern.

The 5 sts adding to end is to ensure that the pattern has an extra sts for edges. If I'm working in round, I'd eliminate these extra sts.

Thanks for visiting and sending your question. I hope this helps.
