slipping stitches

My patten says S1, knit to end. I am knitting in the round. Does S1 mean slip knit wise or purl wise.

The pattern then says S1, purl to last stitch, K1. Again, do I slip knit wise or purl wise.

Thanks

Slipping stitches salvage
by: Ratchadawan

Hello Veronica,

Thank you for your question.
I have learned that to do slip stitch edging I have to always slip the first stitch purlwise and knit the last stitch. So, to answer your question, I would suggest slipping stitches purlwise on every row.

Have a wonderful day!

Ratcha
