Slip stitching

My pattern says “ 1st row S1, knit to end, 2nd row S1, purl to last st K1. Last 2 rows set slip stitch and st-st. Keeping continuity of patt as set (throughout) cont until work measures 31cm, ending with a ws row.”

Is this a 4 row pattern? What does it mean by “Last 2 rows set slip stitch”?

The 2 rows slip stitch is included so that you'll have a nice and neat side edges. You can just continue with your 4 rows pattern but make sure to slip the first and knit the last sts of every row.
