Shaping shoulders in the round

by T Thompson

I have a flat knitting pattern for a shoulder Cape and want to knit it in the round instead. How do I get the shoulder shaping when knitting in the round?

The flat pattern is saying to cast off 3 stitches at beginning of next six rows

Shaping shoulder in round

Hello T,

I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. Do you mean you want to knit a shoulder cape in rounds doing both pieces at once?

I think the best way to decrease the shoulder areas would be to do it the way you decrease the toe of the socks.

You would place a markers between front and back pieces. Then you do decreases 3 times (k2tog of ssk depend on which edge you're at) at each end of front and back. Repeat the decreases 2 more times on each end. Does this make sense at all?

Best to your project. Thanks for visiting and question!
