Shaping Crown of a 4x 4 Ribbed Hat



I am working on a knit 4 purl 4 rib hat. I'm new at this and I just realized I don't have the directions for shaping the crown . I am using circular needles and I started with 104 stitches. Please help! Thank you . Karen Cudney.

When you're ready to do decrease you can change to double point needles. Then decrease only the purl part of the rib by p2tog for one row. Then work even for one inch, and then decrease only knit part of the rib for one row. This would turn into 3x3 rib. keep decreasing it this way for 7 to 8 times keeping the length of decreses lessen as you get close to the tip. For example, 1 inch for the first and second decreases and 1/2 inch for third and forth and 1/4 inch for 5th and 6th, ect You can work it down to 2x2 If you like or you can do 3x2 depending on what you'd like.
