"Sewing in position at same time

I have a booties pattern that says to continue knitting "until strip fits from marker around sole, sewing in position at same time, using either blanket or mattress stitch."

What does "sewing in position at same time" mean here?

I think what it means is for you to start sewing the part that you are knitting to whichever part that it supposes to attach to (is it a sole?). This is to make sure that the your pieces will fit in place perfectly together.
