Return row after yfwd, yrn

My pattern for 2nd and every alternate row says P, working K into yrn and P into yfwd of previous rows where appropriate.

I know how to do this on rows when I have just done yfwd on the previous row but I don’t know what to do when I have done yfwd followed immediately by yrn on the previous row. I have tried knitting into the first half of the yrn followed by a P in the second bit but I end up having less stitches by the time I get to the end of the row. Can you help please?

I finished this hat awhile ago but didn’t get a chance to post it. It is my experimental piece. The Pom Pom can be remove when you want to put up a pony tail. Thanks to my models who can tolerates such condition. :)
