Question about steeking stitches

by Laurie
(Nampa, Idaho)

Hi,

I am wondering if it would be possible to steek something that calls for steeking with wool yarn while the rest of the project or sweater is in acrylic? I cannot wear wool, so if I were to make a sweater where steeking is required, could I put those stitches in a wool yarn so they will bond and not unravel, or is there a way to steek the acrylic so that it won't unravel? Thanks.
Using a sewing machine is not an option for me right now so I would need to sew by hand.

Laurie

Steeking Stitches

Hi Laurie,

I have never done steeking before. This will be on my list when I'm brave enough. I don't have enough knowledge to know about steeking, so I won't give you any advice.

You might want to post in Knittingparadise.com, a knitting forum with friendly knitters who are willing to help answer any knitting questions.
