Need Help With Pattern Abbreviation

Question

I am a new knitter. What does "knit, dec. (0-1)" mean in a pattern? I know the dec stands for decrease but what about the numbers?

Need Help With Pattern Abbreviation

Are you working on a project that comes with two different sizes. In general, when you see more than one numbers that come in parentheses throughout the pattern, it means you will need to find the corresponding numbers for your size. It ranks from smallest size the the biggest sizes. Please see this link below where I better explain how to read a pattern.

How to read a pattern

In your case, "knit, dec. (0-1)" would refer to decrease 0 st for smaller size and decrease 1 st for the bigger size. So, you can look for the size that you're making and follow the number in the same position until completing the project.

If what you're knitting doesn't come in two sizes, then I need to see more of a pattern. You can take a picture of it or write it down and I'll be happy to help you.
