So my question with this pattern is do I do 42 rows on the first part or 21 and then on the second part 10 rows or 20? I'm just confused

Rep last 2 rnds, inc 8 sts every alt rnd 15 (16-19-20-20-21) times more. 204 (216-240-252-256-
268) sts.

Sizes XL, 2/3XL and 4/5XL only: 1st rnd: Knit.
2nd rnd: (Knit to next marker. M1. SM. K2. SM. Knit to next marker. SM. K2. SM. M1) twice. Knit to end of rnd. (256-260-272) sts. Rep last 2 rnds, inc 4 sts every alt rnd (1-6-10) time(s) more. (260-284-312) sts.

For this part you repeat the last 2 rounds 21 times (that will be 42 rows total). This will keep every other row inc by 8 sts. You should have 268 sts when you're done with this part.

For this part, you repeat the last 2 rounds TEN more times (that make 20 rows total). You should gained 4 sts every other round. You should have 312 sts at the end of this section.

Thanks for sharing your question. Have fun knitting!
