How do you keep an icord bindoff from flaring when done over 1 x 1 ribbing?

I usually use a big eye needle to end the bind off. I just run the needle through all the sts, pull it tight and hind the tail behind sts.

I'm not sure if this is the answer you're looking for. I'm not quite understand the layout of the rib and the icord.
