How to read a line on a pattern

by Tina Harrison
(Luton, England )

I'm a beginner to knitting and have picked up a beginners learn to knit kit. There's a line in the pattern that I'm struggling with. It reads Row 25: k6, k2tog, k10, 9 times, k2tog, k6 (112). I'm struggling with the 9 times section. It doesn't add up to 112 stitches and has left me a bit confused. I was wondering if you could share some pearls of wisdom for a new beginner. Thanks in advance.

How to read a line in on a pattern
by: Ratchadawan

Hi Tina,

Thanks for the question.

On row 25 it says "k6, k2tog, k10, 9 times, k2tog, k6 (112)." Yes, this is a bit confusing because the instruction forgot to place parenthesis for the k2tog, k10"

It should be like this;

Row 25: k6, (k2tog, k10) 9 times, k2tog, k6 (112).

and you can see it now that you should get 6, (11x9), 1, 6 = 112 sts after completing this row.

Thanks for visiting and sharing your question. Keep up a good work!

Ratcha
