How To Handle Xs On Knitting Graph

Pattern chart With Xs filled empty space

Pattern chart With Xs filled empty space

Question

I have a pattern graph that has in its code an X. The note says The "X" on the graph means there is no stitch there. Just skip over any squares that have an "X" in them. They are drawn in only to make the pattern line up correctly. How do I handle this direction.

Answer

Follow the chart direction and don't pay attention to those Xs. For example, on row 1, you start out with P4, inc 1 in next st, k1, p2 and so forth. Every time you see an x, do nothing but skip it. It should work out perfectly.

Thank you for the question.
