How to double increase

My direction say to do the following but I don't understand.

knit inc, pick up and k in horizontal bar below st just worked

I'm assuming I should be adding two extra stitches but I don't get it

This is an increase between 2 sts and you should gain only 1 st not 2 sts.

Here is a video I made awhile ago on how to increase by picking up horizontal strain and knit.
