Decrease a crown of a hat
by: Ratchadawan

Hi Evelyn,

That's so kind of you to Take time knitting hats for premature new borns. You can decrease the hat crown every 10 sts and that would make it almost evenly decrease. We just have to get rid of that one extra sts. So, here is what you can do;

I'm assuming you're knitting this in round;

next row: k2tog, k to end of round. This row is to round up sts to 70.

You can change to double point needles when the crown gets tight.

Dec crown round 1: *k 8, k2tog; rep from * to end of round.
round 2-5: work even without decrease.
round 5: *k7, k2tog; rep from * to end of round.
round 6-7: work even without decrease.
round 8: * k6, k2tog; rep from * to end of round
round 9: work even.
round 10 * k5, k2tog; rep from * to end of round.
round 11: work even.
round 12: *k4, k2tog; rep from * to end of round.
round 13: work even.
round 14: *k3, k2tog; rep from * to end of round.
round 15-16: *k2tog; rep from * to end of round.
cut yarn leaving a tail and use a big eye needle to thread the tail through the remains 10 sts. Go though them twice and pull tight. Weave all loose end behind stitches inside the hat.

Thank you for your question and your kindness.
Take care,

Ratcha
