How do I get the right gauge?


I have tried to get right gauge my wool is 14ply. I have tried 10mm needles which is on label 5mm needles but it makes the pattern firmer can you help me.

Does the pattern you're working on have stitch gauge? Do you have to get exact gauge or gauge doesn't matter? If you think you gauge is too tight then try bigger size needle.

If the gauge is matter then try working with different needle until you meet the right gauge. If gauge doesn't matter then use needle that give you the best gauge that suites you.
