how do I carry the yarn from one color to the next when working a striped pattern

I am working in even number blocks of color on a striped sweater and want to know if it is possible to carry the different colors from one block to the next so I don't have to cut off and join the colors each time,

Yes, you can. You have to make sure to twist the none working and working colors at the beginning or rows. This helps keep the edge looking nice and neat. There are many videos on fair isle knittings and intarsia knittings that you can check them out on YouTube.
