Front and back knitting

Hope this all makes sense!

Hope this all makes sense!

I am working on a blanket and on the rows you change your color you break it up with a front and back stitch or a knitted row. On my first row I used this you don’t see the knitted row, (navy blue). The second time I used it you see the row of white. I can’t figure out how I did this correctly the first time. Any suggestions are appreciated. I’m new to these fancier stitches!

Front to back stitching
by: Terri

Thank you for the comment and video but that’s not what I’m working on now. There is a picture above the comments of my project. I’m trying to not get a knit stitch on the front when I’m changing colors while doing the front to back stitch. I’m visual so I’m afraid it is hard to explain. I’m working on a sample piece to see if I can resolve the problem. Thanks for your input!

Front and back knitting of a blanket

Hi Terri,

It sounded like you're working on a two-color double knitting. I haven't tried this myself with hand knit but I have tried on my machine a few times.

I have found a nice video on double knitting and I hope that's what you're looking for.

Here is a video showing two-color double knitting where you have 2 color of one pice. One color in the front and one color in the back.

Thank you for the question and visit.
Have fun knitting!

Ratcha
