crossed yarns

by Sara
(Hailey, Idaho)

Any idea how this happens? My project is a very straight forward and simple shawl in garter stitch but this has happened in at least 2 places and I can't figure out how this happens or how to fix it.
If you can, fantastic and thank you!!

crossed yarn

Oh, I see. That's so strange! I'm not sure what to suggest. It looks like the crossed yarn got picked up with the right top dark gray stitch. I would ravel off 2 more columns, one on each side, and see what happens. If that doesn't help then may have to take it apart.

Sorry you have to go through this.

Re “crossed yarns”

Thanks Ratcha! I appreciate your comments. I dropped stitches in order to get to the spot where I knew there was a problem and what I found is that somehow my yarn became crossed. Look closely and you will see that the grey yarns are crossed between two rows. I can’t figure it out!!

It looks to me like you have dropped a few stitches. You could try piking them up one stitch and one column at the time. Put the loose stitches on a holder and then use a crochet hook to pull each tread through the loop. You pull each loop according to the knit or purl stitch. Look for videos on how to fix drop stitches on Youtube. there are many of them there.

If you find fixing is not working for you then you may have to rip it apart and start from where the problem begin. It will be very helpful if you use a contrast color yarn and a needle to thread through all the stitches on a row below the mistake row before you start ripping it apart.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. You're not the only one. We, knitters all have made mistakes somehow. Happy knitting!
