Blocking this scarf?

I just finished knitting this potato chip scarf, and I love it. The pattern I used stated to block it after finishing.

I'm presuming I don't need to do anything but put it in water to "smooth" out the yarn itself.

Am I correct?
Thank you!

I would rinse it with cold water and then gently squeeze the water out with your hand. Use a dry twoel to blot off excess water.

I think the best way to make the scarf smooth is to roll it into a ball and smooth it with your hand as you're rolling. Leave it to dry in a ball form.
