Question

Hello...I am making a baby afghan that started with one stitch and then add another stitch on the beginning of each row. The pattern called to knit adding a stitch per row, forming a triangle. My problem is....I have lost the pattern... How do I decrease to make a square afghan? Any help you can give me would be most appreciated?

Answer

Hi Nancy,

I'm assuming you're using just the plain "knit" stitch for your increase and not the YO one. If so, you can do the k2tog on the decrease part to narrow the afghan down and turn it into a square.

When you're ready for decreasing, you can knit decrease row as
follow;

Row 1: K1, k2tog, k to end.
Repeat row 1 until you have 2 sts remaining. Then bind them off.

Good luck with your Afghan and thank you for sending in your question.

Happy Knitting!
