I have never worked with a Jumbo needle and a chunky yarn before until this pillow came along. The idea started out when my daughter wanted me to make her a throw for her bed using chunky yarn. Before I get to the pillow, let’s me tell you a little bit about my yarn story and how a throw project had turned out to be a pillow instead!
So, we ordered the yarn from Wish, which is an online store that sell very affordable price product. You may have seen it advertise on Facebook time to time. About a month later, the yarn arrived in a thick plastic shipping bag from China. It contained 4 balls, which I thought it looked a little small for a 250gm ball of yarns. Then I checked the total weight on the shipping bag and I found that the whole thing weigh 250gm not 1000gm. So, I only got 1 order out of 4 orders I placed. I contact the company to ship me the rest of my order. The company responded back with my full refund. I told them I wanted the yarn not the refund and I don’t want to pay shipping to return it. They told me just keep the yarn. Well, that’s the story. So, that how we ended up with the pillow instead of the throw.
Mehousa provided me with a set of Circular Jumbo Needles to work on this project.

Okay, now let’s get to the pillow. There are nothing really complicated here. The pillow is very easy to make but knitting it with chunky yarn and jumbo needle slow thing down. I’ve
made a complete How To video for the pillow and you can watch it below if you want to see how I did it. The video is in details because I mostly focus on Beginning Knitting.
1. Jumbo Cable Needle 20mm for knitting and a spare cable needle of the same or similar size for bind off edges and side seams. I used 2 of the Mehousa Jumbo Cable Needles that come in 3 sizes 15mm, 20mm and 25mm.
2. 125 gm of Jumbo or Chunky yarn (here are some example from Wish)
3. Stuffing of your choice.
Cast on 16 sts using a Single cast on method. Work Stockinette stitch pattern as follow;
Row 1 (right side): Knit.
Row 2 (wrong side): Purl.
Repeat row 1 and 2 until you complete row 23.
Row 24 - 25: Knit
Continue in stockinette st (knit on the right side and purl on the wrong side) until completing row 46.
Seams ends and sides together using bind off method as show in the video at 10:28. Leaving an opening on the last part of the opening to stuff stuffing.
Stuff the pillow and close up the opening and you're done!
Please send in your pillow if you are making one. Would love to see it!
