Shape buttoned openning

by Dorothy Groff
(Chicago,IL)

Placing marker on last cast-off st, cast off 6 sets at beginning and dec1 st at end of next row. So there are 42 sets left. Dec 1 st at each end of 2nd and following 5 alt. rows til 30 sts.

Those are the instructions, I just completed purling 49 sts on my armholes

So does it look like this

1. Knit cast off 6 43 sts.
2. Purl dec 1 at the end 42 sts.
3. Knit 42
4. P dec beg and end 40
5. K 40
6 p 38
7 k 38
8 p 36
9 k 36
10 p 34
11 k 34
12 p 32
13 k 32
14 p 30

Please help thank you making an infant sweater first time!!

Thank you Dorothy

Hi,

You are on the right track but change the first row by dec at the end. Then do dec on the right side rows.

It should look like this;

1. Knit cast off 6 st at the beginning and dec 1 st at the end - 42 sts
2. Purl 42
3. Knit - dec 1 st at each end - 40
4. Purl 40
5. K dec 1 st at each end -38
6. purl 38
7. knit, dec 1 st at each end - 36
8. purl - 36
9. knit, dec 1 st at each end - 34
10. purl- 34
11. knit, dec 1 st at each end -32
12 purl -32
13 knit and dec 1 st at each end -30

Thanks for the question and have fun making the baby sweater. Nice job!

Ratcha
