how do I knit the neck edge?

by Yen
(Surrey, BC, Canada)

I'm working on the back of a sweater. I'm having difficulty in understanding how to shape the neck. It says:

"Next row: (RS). Pat across 12 stitches (neck edge). Turn. Leave rem stitches on a spare needle."

I don't know what "Pat" means.

Hi Yen,

We're so close! I'm just right below you in Bellingham.

Pat means to work the pattern (whichever pattern you have been working on your sweater, eg. stockinette or garter) across 12 sts. if this is confusing to you then you can ignore the word pat (pattern). Just think of it as working across 12 sts.

Thanks for sending in your question.
