How do I decrease stitches in a raglan cardigan?

by Balvinder
(Birmingham, United Kingdom)

I am following a pattern and I am stuck where it says the following:

53 stitches - Work 30 rows dec 1 st at each of next and every following alternate row. Total 23 stitches remain.

How do I decrease stitches in the 30 rows so that I end up with 23 stitches at the end please?

Thank you.

how to decrease raglan sleeve
by: Ratchadawan

Hi Balvinder,

Sorry for the wait, we just got back from family vacation.
To do this decrease you will do the decrease every other rows for the next 30 rows as follows;

Next row (right side)- dec 1 st on each end.
Then work even one row without decreasing.

Repeat these 2 rows decreasing until you have a total of 30 rows from the first decreased row. You should have a total of 20 st decreasing.

Thanks for the question and Have a Happy New Year!

Ratcha
