Converting a cardigan to a Sweater

i am using an old knitting pattern to knit my 16yr old daughter a sweater but the pattern requires me to convert the pattern from a
cardigan to a sweater, how many stitches do i cast on, do i include the numbers of the bands or do i omit them i would be grateful for any help you could give many thanks.

Hello Marilyn,

I would stay with the same gauge of yarn and needle. It would be the same cast on for the back part. For the front part, I would cast on the same number of stitches as for the back. You can decide about the neck shaping later and find an example online.
