Colorful All-Purpose Mat Knitting Pattern

Description: A circular all-purpose mat knitted in round using gorgeous Noro yarn.   The  piece is worked from the outer edge toward the center using circular needles and double pointed needle.

Finished sized: About 8.5" in diameter.

Gauge: 4 sts/inch on garter st using needle US # 8 (5mm)

Yarn: Noro Taiyo

This all-purpose mat is a quick project to knit in a day or two.  I designed this one while I was watching a movie with my family.  I wanted to see if I could create an edge that looks similar to crochet.  I play around with it a bit before I came up with this scallop ones.

I didn't really know what to call it - a mat, a hotpad, a trivet, or a really big coaster!  So a name "all-purpose mat" is suited me.  Having several of these around the house is great because I always look for something to put under my vases, my teapot and so forth.

I'm glad you're here and looking at my pattern.  I'm sure you'll enjoy making it and using it.  Send me a picture when you're don.
