What row to make increase stitches

Question

My pattern states the following for sleeves on the sweater I am knitting ;

Beginning with a knit row, work in Stocking stitch, increase 1 stitch at each end of first row and every following 4th row, until you have 32 sets.

Does this mean that after the first row I start counting the next row “2” then 3 and 4 or do I start counting with the next row as row 1 then 2,3 and 4. which would make the increase rows are always knitting rows.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

What row to make increase stitches

Hello,

Your second choice is the right way to do it. Start counting as row 2 after the increase row. That way you always do the increases on the right side. You've got it all figured out.

Have fun making a sweater and thank you for stopping by.

Have a great day!

Ratcha
