What is gauge for head hugger pattern #6?

Question

What is the gauge for head hugger pattern #6? Instructions say only cast on 100 stitches using size 7 needle; thanks for the help.

Answer

I try my best to answer this question. The pattern doesn't tell me you what type of yarn to use. Look like a one size fits all to me. Check your yarn to see what the gauge is, so that you can decide what needle to use. Usually worsted weight yarn will take between 4.5-5.5 sts per inch. That would make the hat size falls in between 18 - 22 inches.
If this hat is made with the yarn which suggests using #7 needle (4.75mm), this hat would measure 475 mm or 18.7 inches at cast on (100 sts). Be careful though, the seed st is always a little bigger than st st.

I hope this helps and happy knitting!
