Maintain Stitch Count With YO (yarn over)

by Sarah
(Camden, ME, USA)

I am working a patter that involves repeating ( 6 x knit 1, yo, 3 knit two tog) on a row that is repeated several times in 20 rows. It's a lovely lace pattern. However, beginning with 120 stitches and should end with 120 stitches, but there is no row with more decreasing so I have finished the 20 rows with many more stitches than 120!

Maintain Stitch Count With YO

Look like you're knitting feather and fan stitch. You're right, you should ended with the same number of stitches when finishing your 20 rows. In fact, every row should finish with the same number of stitches. But keep in mind working with YO can be tricky. You can easily over do the YO or sometimes forget to to do them. So, the best thing to do is to make sure is section on each rows are aligned with one another. Another way to keep track of this is to mark each repeated section with a stitch marker. Put a marker right after each time you complete the last k2tog. This way you can easily tell if mistake happened.

I'm sorry I can't help you much than the suggestion above. Like I said, lace is sure easy to miscount sometimes. But I'm sure you'll manage.

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy knitting!
