Increasing

Question

I am knitting slippers for my kids and i want my sons to have a dog head on them. I am having a hard time with the increasing instructions. What does this mean?? *Knit 1, Knit and increase 1 stitch, repeat from * across row.

Answer

Hi there,

That sounds really cute! I'll try my best to help you.
*Knit 1, Knit and increase 1 sts, repeat from * means to *knit 1, then to knit one into front and back of the next st, then repeat from * until end of the row. This will give you an extra stitch to every other stitch you knit. See example of how to do this type of increase here; increase knitting knit into front and back

Actually, you can pick any increase methods you want, you don't have to do the k into front and back. You can also do pick up the horizontal yarn and knit a stitch. (see example at; increase knitting pick up yarn)

I hope this helps and thanks for posting your question.

Have a wonderful night,

Ratcha
