Help on knitting sleeves

Hello. The instructions asks me to to "Inc 1 st at end of next row and following alt rows to 44 sts, then
every following 4th row until there are 54 sts."
I understand that I should be increasing every other row and then every 4th row after that...but should I increase at the END (like the instruction says) and then the next time I increase...I do it at the BEGINNING?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'm with you on this. Usually we increase or decrease at the beginning and at the end of rows. I think the pattern forgot to mention increasing "at the beginning" of rows. It doesn't make any sense to me to increase every 4th row until 54 sts at only one end of the sleeve. This would be 10 times the increases and this will add up to 40 rows (in addition to the non increased and the earlier increased parts).

I would suggest knit increase on both ends just the way you understood. And write to the person who wrote the pattern if you can.
