Double knitting ear warmer

Question

I have been knitting a ear warmer for my grandson, and I have been using worsted ply 4 , its working out great, but, is there a lighter yarn that wouldn't be so stiff and hard to the touch? thank you.

I have used Lion bran and Paton wools with children's projects before. It is not stiff like other pure wool. You can find them at Joanne frabric and Michaels store or you can order it from Amazon. A lot of washable wools are also quite soft and great for kids.
